Enjoy the volcanic landscape of Mount Arcuentu

Trekkers will love the many paths and trails that criss-cross Mount Arcuentu – the highest peak of the volcanic chain that runs through the central part of Sardinia, and parallel to the Green Coast (also known as Costa Verde). The unique landscape comprises vertical walls and jagged ridges made up of basalt and rhyolite volcanic rock. From the highest point, hikers are rewarded with views over the Sinis peninsula, the Gulf of Oristano, the Campidano plain and the Arci Mountain.

Cool off in the waterfalls of Piscina Irgas

Whether you are looking for a refreshing dip after a long hike, or simply want to jump in to experience the gushing spray, Sardinia’s waterfalls really are legendary, and none more so than the Piscina Irgas. Located outside the village of Villacidro amongst forests and granite canyons, the water cascades in a perfect waterfall shape for more than 45 metres, into a jade-coloured natural pool that is both inviting and exciting at the same time.

Experience the breath-taking beauty of Golfo Di Orosei

The National Park of the Golfo Di Orosei is the place to head for mountain biking and trekking. Spread over more than 200,000 acres between the northeast coast and Gennargentu mountain range, the protected area includes more than 27 towns and villages. The more adventurous can hike up 1800 metres to the Punta Lamarmora and Bruncu Spina peaks for 360-degree views over the entire island. Accompanied by wild boar and deer, with eagles and falcons soaring above, the vegetation changes from oaks to scrub and strawberry trees. Back on board, cruise alongside the parks spectacular sheer rock faces and discover caves like Blue Marino, and charming coves including Luna, Sisin and Goloritzè.

Visit the Nuragic Village of Monte Tiscali

Located at the centre of the island, the Nuragic Village of Tiscali is an archaeological site enclosed in the cavity of a sinkhole. The preserved remains of prehistoric huts and buildings, excavated only 20 years ago, are wedged inside limestone walls that remain hidden in the cavity wall. During the excavation artifacts and materials were found, identifying the settlements that have inhabited the area over the centuries, including remains from the Buragic era and Roman era. The site is reached by a demanding two-hour hike that leads through steep climbs and descents - it is not a trek for the fainthearted.
