French Riviera restaurants to visit by tender.

Published 10 March 2021

Known for its gastronomic scene, the French Riviera has a plethora of restaurants to tempt the waterborne ashore. Give your chef some time off and discover some of the finest dining accessible by boat.

Cap Estel, Èze Sur Mer

For stunning views that span from Cap Ferrat to Cap d'Ail, take the tender ashore to the Michelin-starred restaurant La Table de Patrick Raingeard Eze at Cap Estel. Sitting on the edge of a private peninsula, and backed by trees and palms, there could be no better location for a romantic dinner. Expect faultless French cuisine with a modern twist, all using seasonal ingredients.

Set in a pretty cove at the foot of the cliffs, Anjuna Beach is the perfect place for sundowners and seafood. Attracting the superyacht set throughout the summer months, the atmosphere here is buzzing with live music accompanied by efficient and friendly waiting staff.

La Rèserve de Mala, Cap-d’Ail

Burgess

Nestled in a cove just around the bay from Monaco in Cap d’Ail, La Rèserve de Mala is hard to reach from land, which makes it ideal for the waterborne. Stylish lounge décor sits on wooden decking with an elegant cocktail bar and beachside dining – the perfect spot for a leisurely rosé lunch. Enjoy a menu of Mediterranean-inspired dishes accompanied by a superb wine list, and then retire to lounge on the upper deck.

Plage Keller, Cap d’Antibes

Plage de la Garoupe

With panoramic views over the Garoupe Bay, Plage Keller sits in the pretty cove of Plage de la Garoupe – one of the most beautiful beaches on the French Riviera. The powder-white sand is where an American socialite couple launched the French Riviera as a summertime hotspot in the 1920s, clearing the beach of seaweed, and inviting Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and Picasso to swim in the crystal clear waters. Take the tender ashore to enjoy Mediterranean cuisine under Keller’s signature sunflower yellow parasols and awnings, accompanied by beautiful views across the Bay of Angels towards the looming Alps.

Paloma Beach, Cap Ferrat

Burgess

The iconic Plage Paloma is nestled in a small cove on the north side of the exclusive St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula. The bay itself is a favoured yacht anchorage, while ashore Paloma Beach attracts the superyacht set. This rustic, family-run venue opened in 1948, and nothing much has changed since the summers when Picasso would come here with his family. Enjoy a refreshing swim on the sandy beach, before dining on freshly-grilled seafood at one of the dining tables scattered along the pebbled beach. Spend the afternoon sipping ice-cold rosé, watching the tenders come and go, dropping off the A-list crowd at this fabulous spot.

La Guérite, Ile Sainte-Marguerite, Cannes

Burgess

Tucked away in a rocky cove on the idyllic island of Sainte-Marguerite, La Guérite is only really accessible to the waterborne. There is a water shuttle from Cannes, but the popular anchorage spot in front of the restaurant is the perfect anchorage for all sizes of yachts. Enjoy Mediterranean cuisine prepared by Greek chef Yiannis Kioroglou, accompanied by a crisp Provencal rosé. After lunch take a nap on the oversized daybeds and wake to listen to the chilled out beats spun by well-known DJ’s while the sun goes down.

Club 55, Pampelonne Beach, St. Tropez

Burgess

The steady flow of superyacht tenders arriving at the jetty of Club 55 is a testament to the enduring appeal of this St Tropez icon. Set back from the beach on a canvas-shaded deck, 55 is arguably the best known beach club in the world, and provides an unrivalled people-watching paradise where royalty, movie stars and rock gods can sit without hassle and often side by side with locals and their families. Paparazzi free and unreservedly relaxed, choose a table beneath the shade of the tamarisk trees and enjoy a varied menu of meat, fish and seafood dishes, accompanied by an endless supply of Côte de Provence rosé and perhaps their signature vegetable crudités.

La Réserve à la Plage

Burgess

The understated La Réserve à la Plage is one of the latest additions to the revamped Pampelonne beach scene. The Philippe Starck-designed beach club, gives a nod to the heady pop-art vibe of the original St. Tropezian era in its design theme. Its stylish atmosphere attracts the superyacht set who come to enjoy classic Provençal cuisine with light, fresh ingredients. Take the tender ashore and enjoy catch-of-the-day served with fresh vegetables and accompanied by a chilled rosé.

Eden-Roc Grill, Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc, Cap d’Antibes

Burgess

Tender to the jetty of the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc and step ashore for a classic French Riviera lunch at the Eden-Roc Grill overlooking the bay. The elegant terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy a light menu, with dishes ranging from marinated crab salad to catch-of-the-day, and arguably the best Club sandwich you will find anywhere. Follow lunch with a dip in the pool or a dive into the Mediterranean. Alternatively, spend a truly memorable evening ashore starting with a champagne aperitif at the Eden Roc Champagne Lounge or Bar Bellini followed by Provençal cuisine at the famed Eden-Roc Restaurant.

The majority of restaurants and beach clubs along the French Riviera open from late April through to late October. Reservations are essential.
