Burgess is delighted to announce that Ryan Green has been promoted to Head of Yacht Management.
Ryan joined Burgess in 2013 following a 12-year career at sea working on both private and charter sailing vessels, cruising worldwide. His excellent understanding of the landscape coupled with his many years of experience means Ryan has a great basis to help grow this department moving forward.
Ryan Green says, ‘Burgess Yacht management has always been at the top of its game and I am truly honoured to have now taken the helm. I have been with Burgess for over seven years and am excited to be an instrumental part of its new strategy. My role will see me heading up the department the core focus of which will remain on customer satisfaction and service delivery across all facets of yacht management including crew, technical, operational, finance and compliance.
We continue to expand our team - now over seventy strong - with management personnel in Miami, London, Monaco, Hong Kong and Dubai. One of the key objectives in our growth strategy is to continually be on the lookout for talent. The organisational structure brings growth and opportunity for the next generation of management professionals with an experienced, senior team providing assurance, support and guidance.
I began my career in yachting as a deckhand over twenty years ago, moving up the ranks to Captain on one of the most iconic charter yachts. Coming shoreside, I joined Burgess as a yacht manager developing to a senior level and founding partner in our industry-leading partnership scheme. This recent promotion is the culmination of an unbelievable journey through the industry and I am so proud to be working with an incredible group of people.’
Burgess Yacht Management department was created in 1987 following the sale of motor yacht NABILA, later renamed TRUMP PRINCESS and then KINGDOM 5-KR. To demonstrate the strength of the department, KINGDOM 5-KR is still managed by the team today. In fact the department has grown to manage over 100 of the most prestigious yachts worldwide.
Ryan takes the baton from Philip Naylor who has expertly managed the department for the past two years. During the first few months of 2021 Philip will support the transition of responsibilities to Ryan and will also explore opportunities for new and complementary business activities to enable us to continue to deliver a full 360 best in class yacht management experience for our clients.
Mark Binnie becomes Yacht Management Consultant. In this new role Mark will continue to manage his own fleet of yachts and will guide the professional development of our Associate Yacht Managers. Mark will also act as ‘Burgess Ambassador’ - projecting and promoting the Burgess organisational values founded on professionalism and integrity. Mark continues to serve as a Director of Nigel Burgess Limited.
Jonathan Beckett, CEO says,’ I am confident that Ryan will do a first class job in his new role and will lead the Yacht Management Team into a dynamic future.’
Burgess has always firmly invested in the leaders of tomorrow and Ryan is a great example of the fantastic young talent coming through. With the introduction of the partnership scheme in 2019, Burgess has a clear succession path now making its transition process seamless as we move into this new era of the business.
