Rory is an experienced Naval Architect and project manager, having worked for Burgess since 2007 and worked on many of the department’s achievements since. Most recently he has overseen the build of two Royal Van Lent deliveries, LADY S and HASNA. He has worked in yards in the UK, Germany, Holland, Italy, North America, Turkey and Chile, and has overseen steel, aluminium and composite builds in his time here on yachts from 40m upwards.

Rory graduated from Newcastle University in 2001 with honours in Naval Architecture; he subsequently spent two years as yacht crew in the Med and Caribbean, he designed and built RIBs in New Zealand and joined Three Quays Marine Services (the technical arm of P&O) in 2003. His strong involvement in cruise ship stability and damage analysis aligned with hull development for “MY A”. In late 2004 he moved to Rainsford Saunders Design (RSD) as Technical Designer and Naval Architect overseeing all technical design matters including two notable yacht refits.

He is a chartered engineer and member of RINA, a passionate sailor, skier and country sports fan, and is married with a young daughter.
