Description
The 43.9m (144ft) ENCORE is an Ed Dubois-designed cutter-rigged sloop built by New Zeeland company Alloy Yachts. She was built in 2013 and underwent a refit in 2018/2019. Her hull and superstructure are of aluminium construction and she has a gross tonnage of 258GT. ENCORE’s naval architecture and exterior design are by Ed Dubois while her interior styling is by her owner and Alloy Yachts. She was built to ABS compliance.
Forwards of the tender stowage, that is recessed into the coachroof forward of the mast, ENCORE has a large flush foredeck. Moving aft she has low bulwarked side decks. She benefits from a large aft deck with steps leading to the lower swim platform. This area is large enough to be used for al fresco BBQs with the steps creating a tiered seating area. Forward of the aft deck is the crew cockpit and helm position with a shaded hardtop and twin wheels. The hardtop can be removed and stored in the hardtop of the guest cockpit. to starboard there is U-shaped seating that can be used as an al fresco formal dining area, there is also further seating to port.
She can accommodate 8 guests in 4 cabins. The guest accommodation is to the rear of the yacht and is comprised of three double cabins and one twin berth cabin. Aftmost is a full-beam owner’s suite with a central forward-facing berth. To starboard of the guest lobby, is a twin-berth cabin with an en suite bathroom. Ahead of the lobby, there a two double-berth cabins with aft-facing berths, dressing tables and en suite bathrooms. As well as the walnut joinery, she exhibits many granite and quartz surfaces. To save weight and improve performance, these are cored with aluminium honeycomb. Stairs from the guest lobby lead to the upper raised saloon with panoramic views. Here one finds a wet bar to port and a U-shaped dinette to starboard – ahead of this seating in an interior navigation station. Down a central staircase is ENCORE’s lower saloon and formal dining area. The galley, captain’s suite, crew mess and accommodation are forwards. The galley has underfloor freezer stowage designed to give ENCORE 6 months of autonomy.
As well as her 60-metre (197ft) carbon fibre mast with carbon fibre boom, in-boom furling, and three headsails on identical Reckmann hydraulic furling units, ENCORE is powered by a single 876hp CAT C18 engine. This gives her a cruising speed of 12 knots and a maximum speed of 15 knots. She has a cruising range of approximately 4,000nm.
